Vacations, Camps, and Rabbits

Spring may be coming. At last signs of thaw during the day. Though it still has to catch up with last week's 30cm snowstorm and nighttime temperatures under -20C. Still the end of winter is in sight. Our cat, Mercedes, is going stir crazy - he can feel Spring but its not yet quite there

Kim and Tom had a great time in Florida - golf, fish, drink and socialize - sounds perfect!
When they got back, Tom had to go straight to work - hiring and setting up the merchandise. Seems the construction was a comedy of errors including a sewage tank that was not installed but the pipes were put in and buried!! You see, its not just Muskoka tradespeople.

More news on the Kim and Tom front. Tom bought Kim a rabbit - Haven't seen it yet but it sounds cute as a house bunny. Finally, Kim's artistic talent has been recognized. She showed off her lily picture as part of a project and got asked to paint something for the Seneca Art Gallery. Wow Kim!!

Meanwhile the ski season winds down. Julia is off to the Spring series in Collingwood then to Timmins to ski her first FIS race. Great experience! We finally sorted out her summer. How's this? She is flying to Switzerland to stay with Dave and Bobbie, then going to England on a tour with them, only to come back to Switzerland for a 15 day Elite Ski Racing Camp (see www.us-elitecamps.com). She gets back on September 3

To complicate things she has a new admirer - Adam - seems nice enough. The old one is acting the jerk - but I guess you need an excuse when you've been fired for being boring!

My business is moving on - we are hitting the usual problems of marketing idea - delay. But fingers crossed.

The B&B is getting its first bookings - earlier than last year

A Nude

Kim is amazingly talented as an artist!

She painted me a nude for my birthday. The modelling of the figure is fantastic and then because she is Kim she painted it in BLUE!!

In the last four months, a glorious lily in black and white, a family of swimming geese and now a terrific nude - all beautifully painted. Not bad for a girl who doesn't paint much. I will try to get a photo for the site

Meanwhile she and Tom are in Florida hooking golf shots and marlin

The Ski Season Winds Down

The ski season is drifting to an end - and what an end!

Last Sunday in a nail biting finish Julia's Hershey Alpine team lost the finals by 1 point - it was so close only three pomints covered the three teams! So disappointing but the usual mix of things broke against them - age, experience, accidents etc

Then on the Monday and Tuesday Julia and the High School Boys team went to OFSAA - the Provincial high school championships

Julia came 16th in each of her races, which is good racing against the best in the Province including some international skiers - her hope was top 20 this year. At 15 she has time and size on her side - she is still growing and in a sport dominated by gravity, size counts

The boy's team, meanwhile, did the unprecedented and won the Gold in the Slalom - a first for a Huntsville Boys team - and they won by a point! Sports-mad Huntsville will be thrilled and they get to ride on the firetruck through town - aren't small towns great!?

The next day they won bronze on the Giant Slalom another first - winning in both categories in the same year

Great excitement

Now we just have the Club Championship and some odd races and winter is over
